At EGO Dental Clinic, sustainability is not an add-on — it is part of who we are. Green Care™ by EGO is our long-term environmental programme, created to reduce waste, lower energy use, and deliver world-class dentistry in a way that protects our community and the planet.

As a family-run, award-winning clinic in Victoria and Westminster, we believe exceptional dentistry must support oral health, environmental health, and community wellbeing — equally.

What We Are Actively Doing for Sustainability

Fully compliant with CQC, GDC, HTM 01-05 and UK dental infection-control regulations.

1. Reducing Single-Use Plastics

We have made a clinic-wide commitment to remove unnecessary plastics from both surgeries and reception.

  • All patient cups are now 100% recyclable
  • No non-essential plastics in waiting rooms
  • Biodegradable or reusable alternatives whenever clinically appropriate

2. 100% Digital Dentistry — Zero Paper Workflow

We operate a fully digital patient journey, eliminating paper from every non-clinical process.

Digital Forms & Consent

  • All registration, medical history and consent forms completed on iPads
  • Secure digital storage — no printed files

Digital Radiography (Reduced Radiation)

  • Low-dose digital X-rays
  • No chemical films, no plastic packaging, no developing waste

Digital Prescriptions

  • Prescriptions sent electronically to Star Pharmacy, Strutton Ground SW1P
  • No paper prescriptions unless legally necessary

Digital Referrals & Communication

  • Every referral sent securely online
  • We no longer send ANY letters — all communication is digital (SMS/email)

The CQC Paper Revolution — 28 Folders Eliminated

We have replaced traditional paper-based CQC systems with the Dentistry Compliance digital platform.

Previously, our practice required:
28 full CQC folders, constantly updated, reprinted and re-organised.

Estimated Paper Saved:

  • A single CQC folder = approx. 350–400 sheets
  • 28 folders ≈ 9,800–11,200 sheets per cycle
  • Annual updates (x3–4) ≈ 30,000–45,000 sheets saved every year

This is one of our most meaningful sustainability improvements, reducing:

  • Printing waste
  • Paper consumption
  • Administrative energy
  • Ink and cartridge waste

3. Energy-Efficient Clinical Systems & Low-Energy Appliances

Lighting Upgrade

  • Full replacement with low-energy LED lighting across the clinic
  • Energy-efficient ambience lighting in reception & surgeries

Low-Energy Screens & Displays

  • Installation of Samsung Frame low-energy monitors, reducing display consumption by up to 30–40% compared to standard screens

Clinic Appliances

  • Smart, energy-efficient kettles, heaters, air systems, and staff appliances
  • All batteries replaced with rechargeable systems

4. Solar-Powered Decontamination & Compressor Room (2025 Launch)

Our biggest sustainability investment is the installation of a solar array dedicated to powering the practice’s highest-consumption area:

  • Two autoclaves
  • Ultrasonic cleaner
  • Water distiller
  • Compressor room lights & equipment

Autoclaves (Excel Healthcare)

  • Enigma 8L B-Type: 1400–1600W per cycle
  • Enigma 17L B-Type: 2000–2200W per cycle

Ultrasonic Cleaner (2.5L)

  • Approx. 120–150W continuous

Pyro 200 Water Distiller

  • Approx. 580–620W per cycle

During Central London’s peak light months (May–September), the solar installation will offset a major portion of the decontamination energy load.

5. The EGO Recycling Centre

We have created a dedicated EGO Recycling Centre, separating all materials responsibly:

  • Soft plastics
  • Mixed paper & cardboard
  • Mixed recycling
  • Glass, bottles & jars
  • Food tins & drink cans
  • Hazardous waste
  • General waste
  • Sharps
  • Medical clinical waste
  • Battery recycling station
  • Fully CQC-compliant waste segregation
  • All systems collected by Westminster Council’s regulated waste services

6. Eco-Friendly Cleaning & Disinfection (Non-Clinical Areas)

While clinical areas must follow strict HTM 01-05 disinfectant rules, all non-clinical spaces now use:

  • Eco-certified cleaning products
  • Reusable microfibre cloths
  • Low-chemical, reduced-waste systems for daily cleaning

This reduces chemical volume and improves indoor air quality.

7. Green Interiors & Sensory Wellbeing

  • Biophilic design: natural materials, soft textures, calming colours
  • Low-VOC paints and surfaces
  • Advanced air purification system: Levoit HEPA purifier for constantly improved air quality

8. Sustainable Procurement

We prioritise:

  • Local suppliers
  • Ethically sourced, reusable materials
  • Long-life rechargeable batteries
  • Low-impact packaging
  • Energy-efficient equipment

9. Reusable Bags & Sustainable Patient Materials

Where takeaway packs are needed, we provide:

  • Reusable or recyclable bags
  • Zero plastic gift bags
  • Recyclable packaging for oral health items

10. Reducing Patient Travel

To reduce emissions and improve patient convenience:

  • Same-day exam + hygiene appointments offered
  • Treatment coordinator aims to combine treatment visits

I had an amazing experience at Clinic Ego. From the very beginning, the whole team made me feel comfortable, well taken care of, and completely at ease throughout the entire process. The professionalism and kindness of everyone involved really stood out. The results honestly exceeded my expectations I’m genuinely so happy with my new smile. It has made a huge difference for me. I have been visiting Charlie and Golnar at EGO Dental Clinic for a number of years now. Them and their whole team are friendly, welcoming, professional and always give the most sound advice. I have had minor to quite major treatments over my time with them and Charlie has been able to 'save' teeth that other dentists have told were not possible. The range of services and treatments on offer are wide ranging and all are carried out to the highest of standards in terms of technical work and hygiene. I would not want to visit anywhere else for any dental work. Thank you

I have had many treatments with the team at EGO and despite my deep fears of dentists, they have always made me feel comfortable and secure. Charlie has even used a Virtual breathing VR experience to help me relaxed. They are also always considering your well being during treatments.
